OkayAfrica World Cup 2026: Launching a Commemorative Jersey with a Watch Party
Role: Creative lead and event producer
Timeline: June 2026
Headline result: 800+ attendees, Red Bull as presenting sponsor, and 100+ shirts sold.
The challenge A record number of African teams qualified for the 2026 World Cup, and we wanted to celebrate that moment in a big way: launch our commemorative jersey and mark the tournament's opening match, South Africa vs. Mexico.
What I did
Partnered with Brooklyn venue Elsewhere to host the watch party.
Pitched Red Bull, who came on as presenting sponsor.
Commissioned an 8-foot art installation: soccer balls on grass paneling in the shape of Africa, each with a flag.
Launched the OkayAfrica Football Club tee collection, with 54 designs, one for each African country.
Styled mannequins in the jerseys, filled the room with soccer-ball balloons, ran jersey giveaways, and booked an Amapiano DJ, with appearances from Manifest and Ara The Jay.
Results
800+ attendees.
Hundreds of photos and selfies at the installation.
100+ Football Club shirts sold.
Red Bull signed on for more live activations. We plan to repeat the model for AFCON 2027.
